- A PMS (Property Management System) is a tool, that you can use to manage inquiries, reservations, clients, payments, contracts, email-automation etc.
- You need to be able to try the product before you have to make a commitment (eg. company demo; tests with sample data etc.). You should feel by yourself, how the system will work for you on a daily basis.
- You want to have interaction with the customer support. Make sure, that there is somebody on the other side, who understands your concerns as a property manager or vacation rental owner, that you get a response in a timely manner (at least within 24 hours) and that you get an answer from somebody who understands your concerns. At the end of the day the quality of the team can make a big difference.
- Make sure, that the system is not locking you. You want to leave the product in the case, that it’s not the right fit (eg. you outscale it because you manage more properties). You need to be able to go out and to keep your data. A contract of 1 or 2 years length is kind of locking you.
